In his own words
Kyle’s take on Metrotown
- What buyers misunderstand
- Metrotown has SkyTrain, shopping, banking and groceries in a few blocks, so you can live here without a car. But tower life and established Burnaby are almost two different cities. You're buying the tower experience: the congestion, the noise and a lot of neighbours in the same position.
- What to investigate
- Visit at night as well as at a bright Saturday open house. Map your actual walk to a coffee and your actual commute. Be especially careful in towers where a large share of units went to investors in the 2021 to 2023 presale run, because when they sell, they compete with you. Read buying near SkyTrain.
- Who it suits
- People who want everything within a few blocks and are comfortable with high density.
- The tradeoff
- At resale you may be one of hundreds of similar units, and price and presentation are the only levers you've got. Choose larger, brighter layouts over investor-grade shoeboxes.
